Period 1
*Read "On the Education of Youth in America" on Commonlit.
*Answer assessment questions.
*Watched video clip on the life of Benjamin Franklin.
*Issued Benjamin Franklin Project due September 28th.
*Read "The Salem (and other) Witch Hunts" on Commonlit.
*Take intro notes for "The Crucible" play by Arthur Miller.

**Complete membean for the week.  If you still have to make-up membean you need to make sure to complete 90 minutes total (45 minutes from week of September 5th and this week).

Period 2 & 5
*Finished reading Part II of the Odyssey.
*Issued the Odyssey project due next week (Sept. 27th or 28th).
*Watched Odyssey review video and took notes.
*Read "The Flight of Icarus" and wrote the lesson and personal connection.
*Groups analyzed a Greek fable and then shared the lessons with the class.

**Complete membean for the week.  If you still have to make-up membean you need to make sure to complete 90 minutes total (45 minutes from week of September 5th and this week).

Period 3,4,6
*Finished with rough draft of Rhetorical Analysis essays.
*Completed peer check of essays.
*PSAT Practice continued
*Hurricane rhetorical analysis in small groups

**Regarding membean assessment -- make sure you complete at least one assessment per month.  There will be an assessment available every other Friday.  If you have not taken one for September let me know next week so I can reissue it to you.

Hi students!  Whether you are in my English I, English III or AP Lang class, I want you to refer to this blog page in case technology crashes and this is the only way to stay in touch and keep working on assignments. If you are feeling anxious or frustrated you are not alone.  I want you to focus on learning while we are in this virtual environment and not so much on grades.  Don't get me wrong, I will still be grading you, but there will be a variety of ways to show me that you understand the material. There will be informal projects, exit slips, short writing, and even one-on-one phone calls or Zooms to make sure if you don't understand a concept I get you up to speed. We have read the passage on "Tolerance" by E.M. Forster, the "We and They" by Rudyard Kipling, and song lyrics "People are People" by Depeche Mode.
